Ladybirds
This week we have enjoyed exploring our new room layout and had lots of fun painting! We went for a lovely walk and so much fun watching the ducks on the river! As well as plenty of sand play we have also enjoyed a lot of physical activities, both outside playing and whizzing down the slide and inside with the soft play equipment.
Next week we are really looking forward to a big focus on sensory play and will be exploring table painting, gloop and spaghetti play! Hours of messy fun!
Butterflies
The Butterflies have really enjoyed playing in their new role play area this week and using all the new role play equipment, toys and resources! The children have also really enjoyed lots of singing and music time this week. We have been getting arty this week with ball painting, gluing and sticking and a lot of mark making activities.
We are looking forward to starting off our role play board next week, including creating pictures of different types of foods. We will also be engaged in a lot of new sensory play and exploring new materials.
Bumblebees
This week we have once again really enjoyed being out in the garden. Highlights have been playing parachute games, ball painting and lots and lots of water play! The Bumblebees have also particularly loved playing in the mud kitchen this week, cooking up some muddy culinary delights and making plenty of noise (music!) with the pots and pans!
Next week we will be making glorious sunflowers for our display whilst also watching our own sunflowers growing! We will have a strong focus on plants and how they grow throughout next week.
Dragonflies
It has been a varied and fun week as usual in Dragonflies! We have particularly enjoyed plenty of garden time and making delicious mud pie creations in the mud kitchen! We have also got messy with hair gel play and creative with truck painting and oil painting. The children loved making giant bubbles and as well as building towers we have also been doing some measuring!
Next week the letter is I and the number is 4. The colour of the week is pink and the shape is a crescent. We are really looking forward to role playing hairdressers next week as well as making treasure maps and having a role play tea party! We will also be playing car washing, having fun with cooked spaghetti in messy play and getting creative with feet painting and salad spinner painting!!

Ladybirds
This week we have been making the most of the weather by spending lots of time in our outside areas! We had so much fun splashing in the water tray with the boats and pots and the babies also especially enjoyed mark making in different environments. Messy play has also been hugely enjoyed this week, in particular the roller painting, stamp painting and printing and hand painting. We have also refreshed some of our lovely displays so do come in and have a look!
We shall be having lots of sensory fun next week as well as focus on physical development and spending time clambering over and exploring all the soft play equipment, tunnels and tents! There will also be the usual healthy dose of messy play!
Butterflies
It has been an exceptionally sweet week here in Butterflies and we have been spending a lot of time looking after our toy babies – dressing them, feeding them and putting them to bed. The sunshine has once again been wonderful and we have made the most of being outside as much as we could and have especially enjoyed outdoor water play! We have finished our “Spring Has Sprung” display which includes some beautiful sparkly flowers and little jumping lambs! Another highlight in particular has been discovering soapy foam and covering our hair and our carers!!!
Next week brings as much outside time as possible, exploring our outdoor environment and playing with the water, sand and equipment. We will also have lots of focus and fun on sensory development and physical development.
Bumblebees
With the lovely sunshine we’ve had this week we have been enjoying spending masses of time outside playing in the garden. The sand pit and water tray remain firm favourites! We have also been learning about where fruit and vegetables come from and how they grow and we are creating a wonderful display board from this. We have also had a focus this week on road safety.
We are really looking forward to making fruit kebabs next week, carrying on our fruit and vegetable theme. We have planned to do lots of activities outside and we will be learning about number and shapes and matching them up using different methods.
Dragonflies
We have had lots of fun in the sun this week and have been spray bottle painting, watering the plants, painting pebbles and also doing chalk rubbings to create different textures in the garden! As well as lots and lots of messy play this week we have also enjoyed putting on and playing with puppet shows! There has been a strong focus on developing fine motor skills with our threading activities throughout the week and we have got our creative juices flowing with storytelling fun too!
Next week the letter of the week is T and the number is 3. The colour is yellow and the shape is a hexagon. We are really looking forward to making our own musical instruments, baking yummy cheese straws and having lots of fun with parachute games! We will also be playing as many games outside as we can (hide and seek, stuck in the mud, duck duck goose!) and we will also be texture exploring with bubble wrap, cornflakes and paint and conducting some exciting and engaging science experiments!
Ladybirds
This week we have been farmyard focussed and have been getting busy making cows, rabbits and pigs for our Spring display! We also had a trip to Pets at Home in the gorgeous sunshine to see all the animals. Ladybirds have spent a lot of time outside this week playing various games and having plenty of fun with sand, duplo blocks and rolling balls. We have also spent a lot of time on physical play and a lot of our babies are cruising around like pros!
Next week we will continue the focus on physical development and plan on enjoying lots of soft play, tunnels and tent fun!
Butterflies
Our April showers display was finished this week and we are very happy with the final result – please do come up to take a look and the Butterflies wonderful creations! We have begun our Spring display and look forward to featuring lots of sheep, sunshine, flowers and chicks. We have been making the most of the lovely weather this week and have enjoying lots of different activities outside from sand play to water play and we took our threading activing outside too!
Next week we are really looking forward to taking a walk in the good weather (positive thinking please!) along the river to the see the little furry animals and the fish at the pet shop.
Bumblebees
We have been busy busy Bumblebees this week! There has been a lot of focus on transport and we have enjoyed making a great display for our construction area with tyre and car paintings, some lovely hot air balloons and fabulous trains! We have been able to enjoy lots of time outside which has been wonderful and have planted some sunflower seeds in some old wellies and look forward to watching them grow!
Next week we will be turning our role play area into a superb garden centre and once again hope to spend much of the week outside! We will also be cooking up some delicious cheese straws – yummy!
Dragonflies
The Dragonflies really enjoyed painting with dinosaurs and making footprints this week!! They also loved mark making on the floor with chalk and crayons. We also enjoyed lots of group games like What’s The Time Mr Wolf and Stuck In The Mud! The Dragonflies have also loved playing Jenga as part of their construction sessions and had lots of fun washing the toy babies in our water trays.
Next week the letter is A and the number is 2. The colour of the week is green and the shape is a triangle! We are really looking forward to working in our construction zone and building towers and conducting experiments with building blocks. We will also be building an obstacle course that the children will design using their own ideas and interests! We will also be getting busy with arts and crafts making flowers from a variety of materials such as paint, paper, playdough, tissue etc.
