We would like to invite all our children and their families to join us for a picnic in the park by Godalming bandstand on Saturday 13th August!
We hope that this will be a great chance to meet other families and staff and have some fun too!
All you need to bring along is yourselves and your picnic and we’ll see you there at 11.30am!
Ladybirds
This week in Ladybirds we have been doing lots of water, ice and jelly play to keep us cool in this hot weather! The babies have also enjoyed a lot of singing and actions to go along with the words – it have been very sweet.
Next week we will be continuing our messy play activities to encourage sensorial play and exploration as well as more singing, lots of time in the cool sensory room and as much fun outside as we are able to!
Butterflies
We have had masses of sensory play here in Butterflies this week including ice, jelly and an awful lots of water play (perfect for trying to keep cool!) We have also really enjoyed creating two new displays – our teddies tea party and our 3 little ducks displays! Our new nationalities board has also been updated and we have been talking and showing how everyone is different.
Next week we will focus on role play and have a dress up day! The Butterflies will be able to choose what they would like to be and make a lovely new display from it. We will also be playing a lot with ice and encouraging the children to explore how it feels.
Bumblebees
This week we have been enjoyed lots and lots of water play and plenty of ice play to help us all keep cool in the heat! We also loved making some fire engines for our new display as well as some impressive leaf rubbings. Another highlight of the week has been our caterpillar number matching where the children match numbers to the circles on the caterpillar.
We are really looking forward to creating our own stories next week as well as engaging in plenty of textured play. We will also be looking at the life cycle of a chicken (and egg – which came first?!) and planning on spending as much time as we can playing and exploring outside as we can!
Dragonflies
We have really enjoyed the weather this week and have been engaged in bucket loads of water play bathing babies and cleaning cars to keep up cool! We also playing with coloured water, made rain with the hosepipe and made bubbles to keep the cooling water based activities going! We also enjoyed making music and playing musical games as well as having hula hoop competitions and running races! Back in the classroom we made delicious jam tarts putting our cooking skills to good use! The Dragonflies have also enjoyed stencilling, manipulating playdough and building an island for our dinosaurs! We also looked at emergency vehicles and how they help us. Finally, another big highlight from the week was our graduation ceremony on Wednesday – we are so proud of all of our school leavers and wish them all the very very best on their new school adventures come September – we will miss you!
Next week we will focus on talking about going to the dentist and brushing our teeth. We will also be enjoying lots of physical activity including space hopper races and the lava game!!! We are also looking forward to welcoming some new Bumblebees to the Dragonflies room and making sure we look after them.
The end of term is upon us and we just wanted to say a fond farewell to our term time pre-school leavers who have now left for their summer holidays before big school in September! It has been a joy and a pleasure to get to know each of you wonderful little people and we will miss you dearly. We are happily hanging on to our non-term time Dragonflies until the end of August! We had a lovely graduation ceremony for all those moving up to school this year – we’ll pop a post up on the event shortly…
To all our term time families we hope you have a wonderful summer holiday and enjoy the break (if you’re getting one!) and hopefully lots of sun! We look forward to seeing you all in September when term begins again on 5th!
Ladybirds
This week we have been doing lots of artwork for our new displays, they’re going to look fantastic! We have also enjoyed plenty of song time using animals and actions and been making friends with our new babies who have settled into Ladybirds really well.
Next week we will be continuing our arty crafty fun are looking forward to making the room even more vibrant, colourful and full of fun! We will also be scheduling in plenty of messy play and sensory fun and of course as much time as possible getting fresh air outside in the garden.
Butterflies
This week has been lovely and we have welcomed two new Ladybirds into our friendly Butterflies room – they are settling in really well and making lots of new friends. Last week the nursery held a playdough competition (to celebrate our 4th birthday) and the Butterfly room won!! We are very proud! This week we have made a display about one of our favourite songs “5 little ducks” using our handprints. We have also really enjoyed body painting and lots of bubbly water play too!
We will be trying to spend as much time as possible in the garden next week, getting some fresh air and some outside sensory experience! We will also be continuing with lots of water play, messy play and singing lots of songs next week too.
Bumblebees
We have really been enjoying getting involved with some textured tree rubbings for our Wheels On The Bus display this week and also making lots of aliens for our Space display! The Bumblebees have really loved water play outside this week, filling and emptying containers and watching the water pour down the drain pipes and catching it at the bottom!
Next week we will be continuing to get creative with our artwork for the display boards and starting to do activities involving fruit and veg before our trip…
Dragonflies
The Dragonflies have loved taking part in lots of role play – making a farmyard and making and playing castles! We have also enjoyed looking at moons and space in our messy play activities! We also carried on the space theme in our junk modelling, making spaceships! Our physical activity this week focussed on playing hop scotch, learning to dribble a football and really fun scooter races!
Next week the letter is U and the number is 15. The colour is light green and the shape is a circle. We are looking forward to further exploring textures next week as well as making some delicious cheese straws! We will also have a graduation ceremony on Wednesday for all of our school leavers including a picnic and party games afterwards.
Ladybirds
This week in Ladybirds we have been having lots of run experimenting with different painting apparatus – stamps, pipe cleaners and paint brushes have been the favourites! The babies have also really enjoyed lots of messy play with angel delight, crazy soap, jelly and pasta! We have also spent a lot of time in the garden getting lots of fresh air and exploring. The Bell House celebrated it’s 4th birthday on Wednesday and we had a wonderful time dressing up, boogying with a mini disco and enjoying a little bit of party food!
Next week, we are planning on even more painting fun to create some lovey new displays as well as spending as much time as possible outside. We are really looking forward to making some delicious banana muffins and yummy cheese straws next week too!
Butterflies
We have been getting very arty crafty this week with pipe cleaner painting, cloud dough making and water painting! We had so much fun celebrating our 4th birthday dressing up and creating a balloon party room with music and crazy foam! The Butterflies have also really enjoyed lots of mark making on our white board this week.
We will be holding a role play day next week when we will be going pretend shopping and having a role-play tea party afterwards. We are really looking forward to going on a walk to see the ducks as part of our new duck theme – we have some lovely displays based around the duck nursery rhyme.
Bumblebees
This week we have had lots of fun celebrating our 4th birthday! We all dressed up as either pirates or princesses and the Bumblebees loved making treasure maps, pirate hats and princess masks. There has been a LOT of water play outside this week (and subsequently quite a few soggy children!) playing pouring and also watering the plants in the garden.
Next week we will be starting a new display board and also will be learning about different shapes within the outside environment. The children are very interested in firefighter role play at the moment so we will be making some fire pictures next week too.
Dragonflies
We have had a truly fantastic week in Dragonflies especially celebrating our 4th birthday by dressing up as our favourite book characters and playing lots of fun games! We have been in the garden a lot this week playing football and creating our own penalties as well as gardening and playing in the sandpit.
Next week the letter is 0 and the number is 14. The colour is dark blue and the shape is a pentagon. We will be enjoying a lot of sensory play next week and will have the foam dough, sensory table and bubbles out to experiment with and explore. We will also be looking at symmetry where we will make butterflies using glitter and paint. The Dragonflies have taken an interest in tying show laces so we will have threading and forming bows as an activity. We are also really looking forward to baking some jam tarts next week!
