Ladybirds
This week has been our transport week! The Ladybirds have had lots of garden time with the cars and trucks as well as car painting, train spotting at the station and making a tissue paper bus. It’s been a week of great fun.
Next week is our “Pets Week” so we are asking our babies (parents!) to bring in either a toy that represents a pet at home or their favourite cuddly toy. We are also looking forward to a walk to Pets At Home to look at the animals there as well as enjoying a pet picnic and pretending to be pets!
Butterflies
This week we have been making our very own stain glass windows as well as some extremely glittery under the sea creatures! We have been loving the nice weather and have spent most of our days in the garden with sand and water play. The Butterflies have also been painting rocks with water and exploring different cereal in sensory play.
Next week we hope to spend as much time outside as well as plenty of texture and sensory exploration.
Bumblebees
This week we have finished our garden display and have loved enjoying the sunshine while having our free-flow play. The Bumblebees have started creating handprint sea creatures for our water tray area and painting our feet to make cars for our construction area.
Next week we are looking at different stories and getting creative to make our book corner look beautiful.
Dragonflies
This week we have been watching our caterpillars getting bigger and bigger. We have also been water painting in the garden as well as roller painting with different patterns. We have also really enjoyed using the interactive white board to explore different parts of the world and also fascinating dinosaurs!
Next week the letter is Rr, number 10, colour grey and shape a triangle. We are really looking forward to going on a treasure hunt and making some fantastic texture pictures!
Ladybirds
We have loved our sea theme running throughout this week! Our littles ones got very excited with the sensory ice play, jelly play with animals and blue coloured tissue paper gluing!
Next week is our transport theme week so the Ladybirds will be doing lots of fun activites involving cars, trains and planes!
Butterflies
This week we have been getting excited for summer and created our new BBQ display featuring lots of different foods. We have also been exploring different textures in our sensory play this week including lentils, pasta, rice and crazy foam – often messy mucky fun!
Next week we will be doing some baking and will be making biscuits and doing painting with different vegetables.
Bumblebees
This week we have been havgin huge amounts of fun further exploring the garden. We have some very exciting new toys to enjoy whilst outside and have started creating our new garden display, getting messy with mud and sand!
Next week we are hoping to spend lots of time outside again and will be finishing our displays. We will also be saying goodbye to Emily who leaves on Tuesday, we wish her all the best…
Dragonflies
This week we have really enjoyed making water tunnels with tubes in the garden as well as making lots of lovely artwork for our new “Where we live” and “Summer is coming” displays, see how they’re getting on next week!
Next week the letter will be Hh and the number 9, the colour white and the shape a square. We will be exploring the life cycle of butterflies and looking at the world by engaging with pictures and videos on the smartboard as well as painting our own world pictures.
Ladybirds
It has been nature themed week this week in Ladybirds and we have loved it! We have enjoyed leaf and stick painting as well as “nature sensory play” with leaves, sticks and pinecones. The Ladybirds have also spent as much time as possible outside exploring the garden this week.
We are really looking forward to our “Under the sea” theme next week. We will be making an under water display, playing with (toy!) animals in water as well as many more exciting related activities! We will also be getting plenty of fresh air and going on a walk next week.
Butterflies
This week we have completed our Apple Tree Farm display which we are very pleased with! The Butterflies really enjoyed sponge painting the apples and gluing the tree. Hand and feet painting was also a particular hit this week, most likely as it was very messy! We have also been on two walks this week to see the duckies and enjoy some sunshine.
Next week we are looking forward to spending as much time as we can outside as well as plenty of messy play, sensory exploration and story time.
Bumblebees
We have created a lovely display around our favourite books and nursery rhymes this week. We are also really enjoying our new “wow” board with lots of bits being added each week! A particular highlight this week was going on a walk to feed the ducks, especially as it was nice weather.
Next week we are going to make and create, get outside as much as we can and have lots of key person time.
Dragonflies
This week we transformed our home corner into a doctor’s surgery and have thoroughly enjoyed role play in there. We also created a new summer display which we love as well enjoyed plenty of messy play! We also introduced our “happy apples” system to promote and engage the children with our golden rules. Once they have received 3 happy apples, awarded for super behaviour (could be listening, tidying etc.) they are presented with a little certificate to take home.
Next week the letter will be Ee and the number 8, the colour will be black and the shape a star. We are really looking forward to making biscuits next week as well as looking closer at how plants grow.
We so enjoyed looking after the lovely little ducklings earlier this year and the children are still talking about them hatch! With this in mind, we are looking at life cycles as a topic.
We have some lovely caterpillars arriving very soon but we would love to be able to also observe the frog life cycle. So here is an appeal to any of our lovely parents and carers to get in touch with your child’s key person or room leader if you know where we might be able to get hold of some to look after here at nursery. If you have any in your back garden or know where some is we would be very grateful!
Thanks very much.
