Ladybirds
It has been nursery rhyme week in Ladybirds this week and we have had huge fun! We created a Hickory Dickory Dock display as well as making some super salt dough stars for our Twinkle Twinkle Little Star display. We have also featured fun around 5 Little Monkeys Swinging In A Tree! Our little Ladybirds have also enjoyed rice and sand messy play this week as well as plenty of time in the garden.
We are really looking forward to our jungle theme week next week! We will be getting crafting and creative making lions, zebras and cheetahs among a plethora of other jungle related activites!
Butterflies
The Butterflies have got stuck in to plenty of painting and masses of messy play this week! The little ones have particularly enjoyed engaging in sensory play with Angel Delight and lots of different breakfast cereals! There has been lots of singing and dancing in the Butterflies room this week as well as fun exploring the garden especially the water tray and sand pit.
Next week we are going to be delving into lots more sensory experiences and having lots of fun with plenty of messy play! We will also be making the most of the warm weather and playing in the sandpit a lot no doubt! We will also have some relaxing story time as well as plenty of singing and dancing again!
Bumblebees
We have been experimenting with different types of messy play this week in Bumblebees including gloop, oats, sticky playdough, mud and lentils. The Bumblebees have really enjoyed playing lots of ball games in the garden as well as having our animated dancing session outside.
Next week we are excited to start our self-portrait display as well as getting stuck into an obstacle course to develop gross motor skills and balance.
Dragonflies
We have been looking at the seaside this week and have really enjoyed talking about what we get up to in the summer. The Dragonflies have loved textured messy play including ice, shaving foam, jelly, cous cous and spaghetti! We have also been exploring mini beasts and where they live.
We are looking forward to practicing our cutting and developing our fine motor skills next week with lots of cutting, rolling and generally playing with playdough (always a hit!) We will also be having fun outside as much as possible, clambering over the play equipment to develop our gross motor skills and splashing about in the water tray.
Ladybirds
This week has been our Hawaiian week which has been very appropriate given the weather! We’ve had so much fun making Hawaiian flags, some delicious and cooling berry slush puppies and lots of sensory fun with sand play!
Next week we are having a nursery rhyme themed week. We will be making lots of fun artwork to display around the room linking to the Ladybirds favourite nursery rhymes.
Butterflies
This week has been very summery in Butterflies and we have been making beautiful sunshines and creating some seaside scenes. We even made our very own Butterflies Room seaside with sand, water and seashells. We have also been enjoying the outdoors (when not too hot!) and exploring different textures in fun messy, mucky play.
Next week we will be engaging in some serious role play and having a tea-party in the garden. We will also be creating a super fun obstacle course to encourage physical and gross motor development.
Bumblebees
This week we have been focussing a lot on sensory play. The Bumblebees had so much fun playing with the parachute indoors (helping to keep cool!) and playing on and exploring the soft play in Butterflies lovely air conditioned room.
Next week we will be making a new gingerbread display which we are really looking forward to. We will also go for a walk to the pet shop to get some more ornaments for our fish tank.
Dragonflies
This week we have been looking at the Eiffel tower and making our own it using our construction materials. The Dragonflies have loved lots of ice play to stay cool in the heat and making sensational seaside pictures as lots of us spent our weekends there recently!
Next week the letter is Oo, the number 14, shape pentagon and colour dark blue. We will be making our own “bucket lists” for our new summer display and enjoying engaging in some delicious cooking.

It was a really lovely morning and was adorable to see how proud the children were to show their daddies off to everyone. It seemed our dads enjoyed the fuss being made of them…and of course the bacon sarnies!!
Ladybirds
This week we have been making our Father’s Day cards which have had a lot of love poured into them! We have also enjoyed our space themed week where we have enjoyed creating stars, a lovely Little Men In A Flying Saucer display as well as constructing some wonderful rocket and spaceman collages! The Ladybirds have of course been in the garden plenty this week as well as enjoying messy play with lentils and sensory play with ice cubes!
Next week our theme will be…Hawaiian! We are really looking forward to making grass skirts, flower headbands, beach bunting to go with our mini beach (!) as well as enjoying some fruit slushies (perfect in the hot weather!)
Butterflies
The Butterflies have really loved exploring ice cube painting this week as well as making different models from a multitude of different coloured play dough. There has been plenty of garden time this week too with lots of outside water play to keep us cool! We have also been putting our artistic talents to the test creating our Father’s Day cards.
Next week we will be discovering different ways in which we can paint as well as spending time exploring sensory bags.
Bumblebees
This week in Bumblebees we have been putting a lot of love and attention into our Father’s Day gifts, we hope our Daddies enjoy them! We been spending as much time as possible outside, as always, and have particularly loved the garden, water and sand play this week! The Bumblebees have also had a lot of fun exploring and clambering all over the garden equipment.
Next week we are looking forward to getting creative with construction and making some junk models! Our creative capabilities don’t end there, we will also we getting to work on our new displays.
Dragonflies
The Dragonflies have really loved playing in the construction role play area this week in particular. We have also made our Father’s Day cards and made full use of all our junk modelling materials this week! We really enjoyed making Dens for national Den Day on Friday too!
Next week the letter is Gg, number 13, colour dark green and shape is an oval. We will be practising our graduation songs a lot next week, ready for our leavers ceremony in a few weeks time.
The charity Save The Children set today up as a way to get nursery, pre-school and school children engaged in learning about the importance of needing shelter, for everyone. We can’t wait for you to come in and join us and get den building!
