Ladybirds
This week it has been a zoo themed week in Ladybirds. We have been on a walk to feed the ducks as well as played with toy zoo animals in water, painted some lovely zoo animals for our display and have played with zoo animals toys out in the garden. We have also had lots and lots of messy play with favourites including pasta, lentils and flour play.
Next week our themed week will be…cooking! Among many nutritious treats we will be making banana muffins and chocolate brownies! Yummy!
Butterflies
This week we have had lots of water play! Exploring cold and warm water, playing with toy sea animals and plenty of pouring and filling and pouring again! The Butterflies have also really enjoyed some large scale hand and feet painting to encourage and develop their recognition of colours.
Next week we will be getting really creative and will be changing the displays in our room as well as getting stuck in to some fantastic junk modelling.
Bumblebees
This week we have been exploring our new room layout! The Bumblebees have particularly enjoyed the new home corner area as well as the book corner including lots of new stories to discover!
We are hoping to spend much of our time outside exploring our senses next week and will have water and ice play as a sensory feature. We are also planning on getting creative with some modelling and making some wonderful 2-3 year old creations! It should be fun!
Dragonflies
The Dragonflies have really enjoyed exploring different textures this week, in particular natural objects such as shells, wood and pebbles and we have been discussing how they look and feel to touch. We have also had lots of fun experimenting with sinking and floating and the Dragonflies have been making predictions on what various items would do. In small groups the children have really loved making tea (with cold water) and making observations about the changing colour as they make and mix their tea in the tea cup. The Dragonflies (and staff!) have also been learning some songs in French using the interactive smart board! Tres bon!
Next week the letter is j and the number is 9, the colour is red and the shape is a hexagon. We are particularly looking forward to observing our stick insects and seeing how they are developing. We will also be making full use of the garden, role play area and masses of activities outside including games and free play.
We apologise for the delay in the latest weekly update but without further ado…the weekly headlines were:
Ladybirds
This week in Ladybirds we have enjoyed creating delightful strawberry collages! We have also been for a lovely walk and took footballs to play with along too. We have prioritised having as much time in the open air and in the garden as possible and inside got stuck into making some Olympic torches and pompoms!
Our theme next week will be zoo animals! We will be creating and involving flamingos, gorillas and penguins in our play!
Butterflies
Jelly play and ice play have gone down as particular highlights this week! Also in Butterflies we have covered the tables in paper and made some wonderful giant hand painting creations, we loved getting very messy doing so!! We have a new seesaw in the garden and have had masses of fun playing on this especially this week!
Next week we are hoping for just as much time in the garden no doubt favouring the water tray and sand pit! We will also have plenty of focus on gross motor skills development as well as messy play but also calm time with stories.
Bumblebees
It has been a wonderful week full of mucky messy fun! The Bumblebees have particularly enjoyed cornflour messy play, getting stuck to the sensory experience and very messy in the process!
We are really looking to next week and spending every day baking and cooking some yummy scrummy sweet and savoury goodies!
Dragonflies
We moved our stick insects into their new net home this week and are looking forward to watching them develop and grow! We enjoyed taking part in our graduation ceremony showing confidence and pride in being ready for school. As well as the usual outdoor fun, we have also decorated our door with gorgeous rainbows we created as well as got very much stuck into the messy play!!
Next week our letter will be Bb, number 18, shape triangle and colour will be bronze. We wil no doubt be having lots of fun in the role play area next week as well as games and fun outside in the garden. We will also continue our messy play (as we love it so much!) and interactive activities on the white board.
We had a lovely graduation ceremony for our wonderful young Dragonflies who are off to big school in September!! We wish you all the very best at this exciting time in your brand new school careers and will miss you all very much. It has been very special getting to know you since you started at Bell House and it has been our privilege to help nuture you and watch you grow throughout your time here. Go get ’em!
