Ladybirds
This week in Ladybirds our theme of the week has been insects! We have loved painting ladybird pictures, making butterflies and dragonfly collages and creating some terrific hand print spiders. Our little ones have really enjoyed plenty of messy play including mucky mud play, wibbly wobbly jelly play and crazy foam!
We will be having a big focus on sensory play next week and will be making sensory bags filled with hair gel!
Butterflies
In Butterflies this week we have been honing our fine motor skills with lots of gluing and sticking and getting creative making polar bears and penguins for our winter display. We made some yummy rock cakes to take home and have been using our different senses to explore various contrasting materials and resources.
Next week we will be starting Christmas decorations ready to decorate the room! We are especially excited about this!
Bumblebees
This week in Bumblebees we have begun learning our Christmas songs for our concert! We have also been getting very creative making jellyfish as well as body painting and learning to recognise colours by mixing paint.
Next week we will be doing some cooking making snowman biscuits and also beginning Christmas decorations!
Dragonflies
The letter of the week was M and the number 11, the colour brown and the shape a hexagon. This week in Dragonflies we have been looking at the animals who live under the sea. We have been talking about and making various underwater creatures including fish, octopus and crabs using our hand prints. We have also been practicing our songs and nativity ready for our Christmas performance in a couple of weeks!
Next week we will be making a start on our Christmas decorations as well as putting in plenty more practice on our Christmas songs and nativity rehearsals!

Ladybirds
This week in Ladybirds our theme was the weather. We had lots of fun making lightning bolts, raindrops and some pretty snowflakes. The little ones have loved sensory play including getting stuck into flour play, crazy soap play and leaf play (lots of interesting and contrasting textures). We also really enjoyed some leaf painting this week.
Insects will be the theme for next week! We will be getting crafty and making spiders, butterflies and of course ladybirds as well as some other creepy crawlies.
Butterflies
This week in Butterflies we have been getting stuck into lots of messy play which our little ones have loved and got fully engaged in! We have also been enjoying some more cooking time recently and this week made biscuits with dinosaur foot prints in them! We absolutely loved dressing up for Children In Need on Thursday and thank you to everyone who made such an effort and took part.
Bumblebees
This week we have been making some super sensory bottles (plastic bottles that we have recycled to use as sensory items by filling them with different contents to create different sounds). We also really loved creating and playing with our messy play farm. The Bumblebees also enjoyed playing with dinosaurs in ice – brrrr!
Next week we are going to be focusing on exploring our favourite foods.
Dragonflies
This week we have concentrated on preparing for our fantastic thriller dance routine to raise money for our friend Pudsey The Bear to give to Children In Need! We have also made our own playdough, enjoyed our fab music session and practiced our handwriting as well as lots of other super fun activities.
Next week we will be making some delicious cheese straws and continuing to work on our upcoming Nativity play. We hope practising singing the songs at home is going well! Please let us know if you need another song sheet or a reminder on your child’s part in the little production.
