Ladybirds
This week in Ladybirds we have been focusing on Christmas activities, such as finger print snowballs, Christmas dinner collage, rice crispies cakes and lots more festive fun. We have been having lots of outdoor fun in our garden, climbing on our climbing frame and rolling the ball to one another. All of our babies are enjoying the Christmas songs Next Monday we are having a pajama day with party food to have at lunchtime!!
Butterflies
This week in Butterflies has been our Christmas planning week and we have enjoyed making animal shapes in the snow play, exploring the different textures on our sensory table and making Christmas decorations and gifts to give to our Mummies and Daddies. We have also been getting creative and made Father Christmas hand prints, Christmas cottages and snowy footprint paintings. Next week we will be leading up to Christmas with our party lunch and games and don’t forget to wear your PJ’s on Christmas Eve.

We have had an amazing build up to Christmas day, making lots of presents for our Mummies and Daddies, making decorations for the room and not 1 but 2 festive music sessions with Jo. Next week will be a bit more relaxed with a pajama party on Monday and some party games to finish off the festive fun.

This week we have been making salt dough shapes, nativity scenes and baking and icing Christmas cakes. Jo has visited us TWICE this week and we have been dancing to lots of Christmas songs. Slow songs, fast songs and imbetweeny songs to boogey to .Look out for your Christmas presents and cards that that we have made for you. We have concentrated very hard to make sure that our presents are the very best we can do Next week we will be having a Christmas party at lunchtime as we dance in our pajamas together.

This week it’s been all about tinsel, lots of painting, tinsel gluing and sparkly tinsel to play with. Our babies loved the different colours, the sparkles and the soft textures. Did you know that tinsel is very tickly?! Next week is our cooking week and we will be making lots of yummy Christmas treats to send home. The Ladybird team are even having our own festive bake off!

This week has been our Winter theme. We have done Winter Wonderland trays, talking about the different types of weather that we get in Winter. Frost, fog, cold wind, snow and sleet are just some of the weathers that we talked about in our circle time. We also had lots of fine motor skills for our 2 year old Butterflies, including picking up different natural resources e.g. pinecones and leaves with tweezers. Next week is the beginning of our Christmas theme we are having lots of Christmas tuff trays , including flour and animals, an arctic tray with icing sugar and a different texture tray, using Christmas decorations.

This week has been all about Christmas. We have sung our hearts out for our performance at the bandstand. We will be meeting Father Christmas and have made lots of presents to take home next week. Next week we will keep up with the festive spirit, by making more Christmas decorations, tree building and Winter role play.

This week we are exploring the new layout of our classroom and been making our surprises for Mummies and Daddies, ready for Christmas. We are still being visited by the elf, who is getting up to all sorts of mischief. We are also very excited about our Nativity this week and have made an extra effort to sing our songs the very best that we can. Oh and Father Christmas is coming too!
Next week we will be cooking Christmas cakes, making salt dough decoration’s for our trees at home and doing lots of fun festive activities as well.

This week in ladybirds we have had lot of fun being creative and have created lots of Christmas artwork for our displays for you to see. We have made beautiful Robin collages, painted stockings for the chimney and have made some very Christmassy wreaths. Please do make sure you take a look when picking your little ones up.
Next week is our tinsel week, we will not only be painting with tinsel but also looking at the different texture of pictures it can make along with the sensory feel of it.

This week in Butterflies we have had lots of fun getting Christmassy. We’ve created lots of beautiful art work including making snowmen, beautiful Christmas wreaths and ball balls for our displays! Our over 2 years have also joined in with the Christmas cheer participating in the arts and crafts as well as counting snowflakes and starting to count beyond 5!
Next week we will be continuing with our Christmas theme and you never know we may even be making some little surprises for you for Christmas. We also have a Christmas stay and play on Tuesday with lots of fun Christmas music, activities and games, we look forward too seeing you all there!

This week we have been looking at winter sports Olympics, learning about the variety of sports such as skiing and sledging. We’ve used the smartboard to watch video’s of the different sporting events. We used small world people in an ice tray to role play skiing, the children used there imagination and got stuck in!
We’ve also had lots of fun getting creative with Christmas decorations such as, Christmas trees, snowflakes and Santa’s. We cant wait for father Christmas to see our beautiful work next Friday when he comes to visit!
In our science this week we’ve made bird feeders and have also made our own musical instruments to see what different sounds we can create!

In dragonflies this week we’ve begun to transform our room with our beautiful Christmas art work, we’ve become little artists, creating the most wonderful Christmas wreaths and tree’s. We’ve also made very cute pictures of gingerbread men, candy canes and Christmas crackers. We continued with our Christmas spirit when cooking mince pies, we made the pastry ourselves, learning about where the different ingredients come from. Science this week we made our own bubbles using socks to create patterns and looking at the different shapes we could make! We also added different food dye to milk, watching it all separates once we’ve added a drop of washing us liquid, we found this very fascinating!
We’ve also continued to work very hard on our Christmas play and can’t wait for you all to watch next Friday!
Next week we are continuing with our Christmas cheer, making lots more decorations, becoming little elf’s in our soon to be Christmas grotto and meeting father Christmas on Friday! We will also be making special little gifts for Mums and Dads as well as performing our amazing Christmas play we have worked so hard on!
Our science next week we will be making some beautiful salt crystals and looking at melting objects such as ice, making predictions!
We will get our chefs hats on next week and create some marshmallow snowmen biscuits to take home!

This week in Ladybirds we have enjoyed a mark making theme. This included large scale collaging and mark making in the flour. Next week we are starting our Winter Wonderland theme and preparing for the Christmas season. Get your cotton wool at the ready!!

This week in Butterflies has been our texture theme. We have had different texture tuff trays and gluing and sticking with all sorts of different kinds of things in them. Hay, stones, wooden bark and jelly are just some of the things we explored. Next week is the start of our Christmas theme, starting to make our decorations and Christmas displays. It’s FINALLY here!

This week we have been looking at Winter. This has included walking in the snow (Flour!) and making fingerprint snowmen. We have also made lots of Snowflakes. Next week we will be looking at Winter sports and getting ready for Christmas.

This week we have been cooking rice crispies cakes which the children thought were delicious. We have also started our Christmas crafts ready for the build up to Christmas. Look out for our Christmas tree, painted and decorated by the children. Later in the week we will be carrying out some science experiments to make goo and slime.. Next week we will be making Christmas decorations to put up in our room, baking mince pies and setting up Father Christmas’s grotto in our role play area. Exciting times!
