Ladybirds
This week we have been getting thoroughly involved in our transport theme and really enjoyed the related activities! Highlights were car painting, pushing trucks about in sand and having the same fun with cars in cornflour!
Our theme next week will be food and this will include lots of sensory food play, food sticking, role play and many more fun and engaging related activities.
Butterflies
This week in Butterflies we have been exploring mark making with the chalk and giant art easel. The children have enjoyed car painting (painting with cars!) and foot painting as well as making jolly caterpillars. We have been exploring our ‘natural world’ sensory basket by using our touch and feel senses. The Butterflies have also enjoyed using the construction resources to make wonderful pictures especially loving car painting and sticklebrick stamping!
Next week, we will spend as much time outside as we can as well as getting lots of exercise from our soft play equipment. We will continue sensory explorative play as well as plenty of messy play too!
Bumblebees
This week in Bumblebees we’ve introduced new Key Person focussed time. The children sit down with their key person and enjoy a short activity together that has been specifically planned for them. This helps us get to know our key children better and for them to form special bonds with us. It is especially important when children are new to the room.
Next week we are very excited about turning our role pay area in to a baker’s shop and we will actually be making real (and delicious!) cakes.
Dragonflies
The Dragonflies have spent a lot of this week looking at people who help us. Our role play area is currently a doctor’s surgery so we have had lots of fun role playing doctors a patients. We have also made our own drawings of people who helped us and talked a lot about occupations and what we want to be when we grow up (the children that is!) We also started looking at Chinese New Year and begun making lucky trees.
Next week the letter is L and the number is 16. The colour will be gold and the shape a star. Our Chinese New Year focus will continue next week and we will look at the meaning and celebrations around it in more depth. We will also get creative and make some lovely decorations.
