Our air-conditioned Butterfly room is dedicated to our toddlers aged 15 months to 2 and a half years old, with its light, vibrant and spacious layout there is plenty of room for the children to explore and engage with the many different exciting activities and resources. We focus on the 3 prime areas of development in the Early Years Foundation Stage which are Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Physical Development and Communication and Language.
We very much follow home routines with regard to feeding and sleeping to help the children feel relaxed and at home within the room. We continue the weaning process under individual parental guidance and offer fully weaned babies a wide variety of foods to try.
The room has its own bathroom for nappy changing and toilet training, when it is needed, and it also benefits from a calm and cosy sleep room which allows the children to continue to follow their established sleep routine.
Our toddlers are free to explore the different areas of the room, from construction to role play, reading to messy play as well as explore the fantastic garden with its sand pit, climbing frame and wheeled toys.
They take part in child initiated play as well as focussed adult initiated activities which allows them to learn and develop at their own speed and helps them to transition to our Bumblebee room when they become 2.5 years old and are developmentally ready.
