We are half way through half term and missing our lovely term time families but hope you’re all having a wonderful time! We are busy as usual at nursery packing our days full of activities as usual for our year-round children and having lots of fun preparing for Halloween and learning about Diwali this week!
If you’re looking for things to do this half term why not check out the below links for some ideas. From pumpkin picking at Secretts to Spooky Halloween Week at Birdworld there is plenty to get the whole family involved. If you want to steer clear of Halloween, we like the look of the Teddy Bear’s picnic play Farnham Maltings too!

We have a nursery wide focus on different cultural celebrations and will be looking forward to learning about and engaging in a couple of separate events this month…
Diwali falls on 30th October until 3rd November this year and each room is planning related activities. Our own Sujana will also be reading the children a story book all about Diwali.
Halloween (31st Oct) falls on a Monday this year so we will be holding a Happy Halloween Party where children can come dressed up (please don’t scare the staff too much!) and enjoy a tea party with freaky food (well usual party food) and ghoulish games….mwah ha ha ha!!
You will have heard us talking about how the children love the sensory explosion that is bubble wrap painting! The texture of the bubble wrap, the effect it creates and of course the wonderful sound! Working individually on your own masterpiece or together to make a monster creation, bubble wrap roller painting is always a winner!
Here is a video from artbarblog to give you an idea of what it’s all about! Enjoy and feel free to get stuck in at home if you fancy!

We often talk about the fun we have had at nursery with cloud dough – it is a wonderful sensory experience for little ones and you can get really creative with colous which makes it all the more engaging! If you ever fancy making it at home take a look at http://www.powerfulmothering.com/rainbow-fizzy-cloud-dough/
In Bumblebees last week we conducted a fun and very simple experiment with the children to engage them in both science but also learning about colour. All you need is a plate, a packet of skittles and a small jug of warm water…
Simply get the children to neatly line the plate with the different coloured skittles. Once the circle is complete, pour over some warm water and watch the mezmerising results! So very simple but fascinating and perfect to try at home…

From management as marvellous Minions…
To our wonderful Playdough bake off competition!
The rooms put a fantastic amount of effort into their entries and the results were wonderful…
Lovely Ladybirds…
Brilliant Butterflies…
Beautiful Bumblebees…
Delightful Dragonflies…
And the winner is….
BUTTERFLIES!!!! Well done for the truly super effort from the Butterflies room for their depiction of Clare, Tracy and Andy at the front desk – the attention to detail is incredible and it put a huge smile on all our faces – great job!
We also had a glorious birthday party this afternoon with lots of wonderful dressing up, singing, dancing, party games, a puppet show from Katie Sparkles and a tea party in the sunshine!
There were lots of happy but exhausted little (and not so little!) people going home after such a fun day today!
We would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to the amazing team here at Bell House for all their hard work, commitment and the genuine care and love they show the children. The past 4 years have been wonderful and so much of that is due to the team we are lucky to work with here.
We would also like to say a huge and heartfelt thank you to all our lovely parents and carers for entrusting us with your little ones and allowing us to be part of their lives at such an important time. We adore getting to know them as they grow and develop and feel truly honoured to be a part of their young lives. It has been a fabulous four years and our familes have played such a vital role in making it as sucessful, worthwhile and fun(!) as it has been. We look forward to the next four…
Apparently it is National Donut Day in America today – well that’s good enough for us! There are lots of fun (and healthy!) ways to celebrate aside from tucking into the sweet treat. How about the Donut Counting Game here or the Donut Ring Toss Game here or simply turning your sandwiches into yummy donuts (like MustHaveMum below) or engaging babies in the classicdonut stacking game (see below!) Enjoy your donut day!
