Ladybirds
This week our Ladybirds have enjoyed a ‘beach time’ week, making sandcastle pictures, hand print fish and dabber painted crabs.
All this hard work has meant that the children’s art work has helped us create a brand new room display. Please do come and have a look at it!
Next week will be a colourful week with our babies getting messy and exploring a primary colour tuff tray and making a rainbow display.
Butterflies
This week in Butterflies we have been looking at the children’s holiday pictures they have sent into us and talking about their time away with their families.
We also have had a variety of activities focussing on ‘the beach’, ranging from a beach tuff tray and some lovely beach pictures. Cooking was also fun and our Butterflies have created some culinary delights to produce 5 star rated jam tarts and cheese scones.
Next week we will be looking at shapes , using puzzles, books and shape stencils to show and use with our little ones.
Bumblebees
This week has all been about texture. Our Bumblebees explored dried pasta, lentils, spaghetti, glitter, powder paints and oil. Then we cooked the pasta and talked about how the pasta had changed when we touched it. We also added all these things to water and talked about how they felt. “slippy”, “sloppy” “mushy” and “wet” were all lovely words that the our Bumblebees said. We even had time to make unseasonable mince pies that went down a treat.
Next week we will be exploring ‘emotions’ and how they make us feel inside. We will carry on looking at our Golden Rules and talking about how we use them.
We will also be exploring all the colours of the rainbow and mixing colours together to see what new colours they make.
Dragonflies
Our Dragonflies have been looking at number problems and asking our children to tell us one more and one less than a given number. We have also been looking at three letter words and practise blending the sounds together, to make words. Our Dragonflies love literacy and mathematical activities and their number and letter recognition is a much looked forward to time of the day.
Next week we will be looking at all the exotic places that our globe trotters have been to and talk about their holidays. Do feel free to bring any holiday pictures and souvenirs’ for us to discuss in our ‘show and tell’ times.

This week we have had so much fun with our story book theme, enjoying a “3 Little Pigs” sensory tray, a “Tiger who came to tea” role play tea party and some delicious teddy bear biscuit baking! Yummy!
Next week is our transport week! We are looking forward to whizzing cars through messy play and making our own cars from big boxes – beep beep!

This week we have been focussing on splishy splashy water play to keep us cool in the warm weather! We have also really enjoyed exploring our creative culinary sides with baking some delicious cookies and cakes – scrummy!
Next week we will be getting stuck into a lot of messy and texture play – sensory fun!

This week in Bumblebees our theme has been “Funny Bones”. We have been really enjoying looking at skeletons and how our bodies move!
Next week we are excited to be exploring and getting immersed in the story of Goldilocks and the 3 Bears!

The letter of the week was F, number 17, shape a square and colour silver.
Last week was the end of term and it has been emotional saying goodbye to all our little ones that are having a summer break before their next adventure.
We have been especially enjoying the amazingly warm and sunny weather and getting stuck into all the new improvements in our garden! Please don’t forget to pack your little off with suncream & sunhat!

This week in Ladybirds our theme of the week has been zoo animals! We have created a zoo tray, lion masks and a lovely 5 little ducks display. We have also enjoyed animal painting and been playing with our zoo puppets! The babies have also enjoyed exploring the garden and getting in a lot of water play.
Next week our theme is story books! We will be making our own books and different tuff trays.
Butterflies
This week we have been looking at different shapes and getting stuck into shape printing with paint, exploring different shaped ice play, making structures with magnetic shapes and looking through shape books and puzzles. We have also gone a walk to feed the ducks and to our lovely local band stand!
Next week we will be looking at different animals to follow on from our zoo trip to Marwell!
Bumblebees
This week we have been making rockets, singing spaceship songs, creating aliens and getting involved with lots of cutting using child scissors – excellent for motor skill development!
Next week we are looking forward to drawing skeletons! We will be looking at big and small skeletons.

The letter of the week is L, number 16, colour is gold and shape a star.
This week we have been practising our songs for our graduation ceremony! Our ceremony on Thursday was emotion and lovely – we will miss our little school ready Dragonflies so much! We hope all the families that attended also enjoyed it. We have also been looking at seasons this week and planting our sunflowers for us to watch them and measure their growth.
Next week we will be focusing on reading!
Ladybirds
This week has been our In, Out, Under & Over themed week which our babies have loved! They are very active and love climbing so we have made dens, tunnels and little obstacle courses for them to explore and develop their movement. Loads of fun!
Next week is our Zoo themed week, get ready to make lots of animal noises little ones!!
Butterflies
This week we have been getting creative using different materials to make lots of different marks. The Butterflies have made some lovely pasta pictures with glue as well as spaghetti painting, animal painting, cotton wool painting and even stone painting! We have also relished our music class twice this week(!) and enjoyed some dancing with a parachute and instruments.
Bumblebees
This week in Bumblebees our theme was The Bad Tempered Ladybird and we have been talking about how our actions affect others. We have also baked some yummy ladybird biscuits – delish! As well as this, we have focussed on maths and lots of fun activities around numbers.
We are looking forward to our theme next week – Aliens Love Underpants! Expect lots of space rocket and alien making, more biscuit baking and a further focus on maths!

The letter of the week was U and the number 15, the colour light green and the shape was a circle.
This week has been especially exciting as lots of our Dragonflies have been on their new school visits and have told us all about their new schools, classrooms and teachers.
Next week we will be looking at graduation and getting ready to celebrate our littles ones leaving for school (sniff sniff!!)

This week in Ladybirds our theme of the week has been shapes. We have had masses of fun making shapes in cornflour play as well as jumbo shape mark making and lots more shape related fun activities. As always, we have had plenty of time outside exploring the garden and able to enjoy lovely sunshine this week! We have had water and ice play to keep nice and cool!
We are looking forward to our theme next week In & Out, Up & Over where we will be getting stuck into tents, tunnels and parachute fun!

This week in Butterflies we have been having different themed tuff trays everyday including beach theme, sea life, farms as well as a muddy digger tray! We have been focussing many of our activities driven by the children’s personal interests.
Next week we are looking forward to giving some time to exploring opposites like warm/ cold, soft/ hard and big/ small.
Bumblebees
This week in Bumblebees we have been exploring the story of the 3 Little Pigs and focussing our activities around this including re-enacting the story, gluing and sticking wolves and pigs as well as lots of messy play!
We will be discovering the story of The Bad Tempered Ladybird next week and using this to learn about our emotions and different behaviours.

The letter of the week was O, number 14, colour dark blue and shape a pentagon.
This week in Dragonflies we have been looking at summertime and have really enjoyed making various creatures using paper plates and materials. The Dragonflies have also been getting messy and creative using different mark making materials like chalk and paints.
Next week we are looking at going on holiday, we have recently changed our role play area into a fabulous hotel!

This week we have had a fantastic Summer Fete themed week! Our bonny babies have enjoyed lucky dip with shredded paper, ice-cream play and egg and spoon balancing! We also got stuck into junk modelling and lots of mark making.
Next week is our Shape week and we will be doing lots of creative play exploring shapes as well as getting messy!

This week in Butterflies we have been looking at different textures as well as what happens when we put things in water, in cornflour, playdough and when we make marks. We have also been getting creative for our Father’s Day boards.
Next week we will be looking at colours and enjoying lots of colourful activities!
Bumblebees
In Bumblebees this week we have been exploring the story of Jack and the Beanstalk for our theme and have been incorporating lots of maths into our activities. Thank you to our parents for coming to our Father’s Day breakfast, we had a wonderful turnout and a great time!
Next week our theme is Three Little Pigs and we will also be talking about emotions and in what ways we can be kind to our friends.

The letter of the week is G, number 13, colour dark green and shape is an oval.
This week we have been looking at summer and have been colouring pictures and using textured materials to make super seaside pictures. We have also been making papier-mâché dinosaur eggs as we very much enjoy playing with and talking about dinosaurs and they are an excellent example of our shape of the week!
It was so lovely to see so many fabulous fathers at our Father’s Day breakfast last Saturday!

We have had lots of fun this week exploring natural resources! The Ladybirds have enjoyed creating leaf collages as well as stick painting. We have also loved played with fruit, vegetables and leafs in ice!
Next week is our Summer Fayre theme! We are excited about the activities we have planned including ice cream play, lucky dip sensory play and lots of summer related crafts.

This week in Butterflies we have been celebrating Father’s Day by making our daddies cards and making a lovely Daddy display board. We have also been looking at our family photos on our board and showing them to our friends.
Next week we will be focussing on numbers and colours exploring these through looking at our new books and singing songs around them.

Our theme this week in Bumblebees was the book Giraffes Can’t Dance. The children really enjoyed making and creating items from the story. We also finished off our fabulous Father’s Day cards and presents.
Next week we will be exploring Jack and The Beanstalk. We are also looking forward to painting, counting activities, creative activities and much more.

The letter of the week was D, number 12, colour light blue and shape crescent.
This week we have been continuing to explore summertime by colouring pictures and taking part in sensory seaside small world trays. We have also been looking at Father’s day and making special gifts for our daddies.

This week has been our All Around The World week! The babies’ favourite activity of the week was definitely noodle play – using their fingers, hands and toes to explore, it was very messy!
Next week we will be having a natural sensory themed week! The Ladybirds will be having fun stick and leaf painting, exploring sensory trays and making collages.
Butterflies
This week in Butterflies we have been making the most of our role play area by having tea parties, playing doctors and vets as well as dressing and feeding the toy babies. We have also been focussing on animals by doing sea-life trays, dinosaur painting and making our own craft parrots!
Next week we will be beginning Father’s Day arts and crafts.
Bumblebees
This week in Bumblebees our focus theme has been dinosaurs which has been a lot of fun! We have made lovely drawings to take home to parents, made dinosaur footprints and even had a dinosaur theme treasure hunt. The Bumblebees have also began preparations for Father’s Day which will continue into next week along with our new theme… the story Giraffes Can’t Dance.

The letter was M, number 11, colour brown and shape hexagon.
This week we have been getting messy using various materials in our activities. The Dragonflies especially enjoyed making and painting with our powder paints. We have also been talking about summer and making pictures of the beach as well as pretending the sandpit is the seaside!
Next week we will continue looking at summer (let’s hope the weather hold’s up!)

This week we have lots of fun doing activities linked to nursery rhymes! The Ladybirds have especially enjoyed making Baa Baa Black Sheep collages and getting stuck into dabber painting creating other nursery rhyme scenes.
Next week we will be celebrating who we are, where we are from and enjoying multi-cultural activities through craft and music.

This week in Butterflies we have had lots of fun exploring our new resources! We have really enjoyed reading our new books and playing with our new puzzles. We have also loved getting involved in lots of arts and crafts for our Very Hungry Caterpillar board. Despite the rainy weather this week we have still spent a lot of time in the garden playing and exploring.
Bumblebees
The lovely little Bumblebees have been really busy exploring and learning about the book Handa’s Surprise. We have got stuck into food tasting related to the book including delicious pineapple, mango and avocado. We have loved creating a new display board entitled Summer Is Coming. In Little Preschool we have been learning how to use a ruler and how to measure using a meter rule.

The letter of the week was R, number 10, colour grey and shape a triangle.
Dargonflies have been looking at dinosaurs and we looked at some new Harry And His Bucket Full of Dinosaurs books at story times. We also made lots of crafts for our new display. Those of us who are off to school in September have been getting excited dressing up in school uniform.
Next week we will be looking at different occupations.

This week in Ladybirds our theme of the week has been Let’s Go To The Beach! We have really enjoyed making tissue paper beach balls, playing with balls in water play and making a mini beach display. We have also been outside in the garden making sandcastles and playing on the slide.
Next week in Ladybirds our theme of the week is Nursery Rhymes where we are looking forward to getting stuck into Twinkle Twinkle Little Star painting, Baa Baa Black Sheep collage!

This week in Butterflies we have been getting involved in lots of arts and crafts and looking at different textures. We have also been making decorations for our Father’s Day Board. The Butterflies have also loved being in the garden a lot this week, enjoying the warm sunshine.
Next week we will be focussing on animals!

This week we are focussing on summer, especially with the lovely weather we have had. We have played outside continuously and had a bug hunt during which we found some very interesting bugs! Little Preschool we have been working on number matching and building different 3D shapes using magnets.

The letter of the week was R and the number 10, colour grey and shape triangle.
This week in Dragonflies we have been doing lots of activities about dinosaurs. We especially loved making dinosaur footprints by painting our feet green and stomping around on paper! We have also made dinosaurs in our junk modelling sessions and enjoyed stories read to us about dinosaurs and their adventures. During key person time we have talked about our emotions and different time that we feel these emotions and how our faces look.
Next week we will be having some half term fun activites.
