Yesterday (26th January) was Australia Day and we took the opportunity to have some fun and educate the children on life “down under”! With family in Australia and her performing background, Katie took little persuasion leading Dragonflies in the celebrations. Dressing up and playing the part of “Katie the Kookaburra” she entertained the children and got them involved in a bit of Australian culture!
Across the nursery the children were busily involved in Australia related activities throughout the day including decorating flags with different textures and materials and talking about the colours and shapes within the flag, reading stories about Wilaby Wallaby and talking about all the different animals that live in Australia and learning the song “Waltzing Matilda” which they sang with great gusto!
