Ladybirds
This week has been our marvellous mini beast week! The Ladybirds have spent lots of time in the garden hunting for insects, made and decorated some beautiful Ladybirds, enjoyed mini beast sensory play and created spaghetti worms!
Next week we will be creating a Jump into Summer display (it’s nearly here!) and are planning on making the most of the sunshine with lots of fun and games outside in the garden.
Butterflies
This week we have been planting cress and next week we will be planting sunflowers! The Butterflies have had lots of different food related sensory play including jelly, angel delight and rice play! We have also had a big focus on stories this week and have been encouraging the children to choose their own favourite story books.
Bumblebees
This week we have been looking at different new books in line with our new theme of the month – books! The Bumblebees have really enjoyed doing a Gruffalo hunt as well as making Gruffalo playdough figures using Gruffalo mats. We have also been focussing on numbers matching the same ones as well as looking at shapes. The Bumblebees have also been developing their fine motor skills using pegs (good for developing strong writing fingers) Finally we have had a lot of fun using scissors to cut different materials!
Dragonflies
The letter of the week was Nn, number 6, shape a pentagon and colour orange!
This week we have been changing our room a little bit and enjoying loads of new learning opportunities! The Dragonflies have made some awesome slippery slime, made perfect playdough pizzas and got out on a wonderful walk down to the lovely river!
Next week we will be turning our role play into our very own doctor’s surgery!
