Ladybirds
This week our Ladybirds have been looking at colours. We have made rainbow rice pictures, been let loose with a free painting activity and had a primary coloured tuff tray in our room. We also made stomping good rainbow foot print pictures and had fluffy sand play to explore and enjoyed trips to our sunny garden. Next week we will be looking at fruit and we will use real fruit to make printing pictures, splash around in some messy fruit play and finish it all off by tasting different types of fruit together.
Butterflies
Our 1 year old Butterflies have had a wonderful time playing in the role play, making cups of tea and dressing up to go to a tea party with all their friends. A big social event in any 1 year olds life! Our 2 year old Butterflies have been looking at colours. Sorting, matching and colour mixing have all been looked at and they have even been picking objects up and trying to say the colour of it. Next week is the theme of ‘weather’. With our present weather in the U.K the children will be looking and feeling the different weathers outside in the garden. We will be making our own sunshine and rain pictures and exploring different temperatures using ice, warm water etc.
Bumblebees
Our little Bumbles have been exploring sensory activities about magic fairy dust and using marshmallows to build a tower. Our pre-school Bumblebees have been mini scientists this week, doing lots of experiments. We looked a colours changing in cotton wool using food colouring and jugs of water. We also built towers with marshmallows and straws to see which was the strongest tower that took the most weight. Next week we will be putting our aprons back on to look at following recipes and instructions to make that old classic, jam tarts!
Dragonflies
Our Dragonflies have had an additional activity time added to their routine that has started this week. The art of Science. Experiments have taken place to explain how volcanoes work and we have also looked at colour explosions. We had a smell test activity to explore the sense of smell, using lots of different smells including vinegar, lemon, vanilla and peppermint. Next week the Science exploration continues as our Dragonflies begin to think more about the world of Science and the wonder of it all.
