Ladybirds
This week we have been making different animals for our Old MacDonald display – lots of creative fun and it’s starting to take good shape! We have also had a lovely week exploring the garden in the lovely warm sunshine and getting lots of fresh air.
Next week we will be continuing with updating our displays – come up and have a look! We will also be exploring more group activities in the coming weeks as well as spending lots of time bonding with our key people.
Butterflies
We are very proud of the new ‘feelings’ display we have created this week – it includes a mirror so that the children can see their lovely faces and explore different expressions. We have had particular fun this week mark making with tools the children each chose themselves. We also took a lovely walk to the river to see our friends the ducks and really enjoyed feeding them (as well as sneaking some for ourselves too of course!)
We will continue to explore the topic of emotions next week and will be enjoying our display again for sure! There will also be plenty of focus on physical development with soft play inside and time playing in the garden too.
Bumblebees
This week we have been exploring different painting techniques using wonderful apparatus like forks, string and stones! We have also been looking at emotions and relating them our new feelings pictures. There has been a lot of play with playdough this week – getting creative and developing fine motor skills, we have been making cakes and different shapes. The Bumblebees have also enjoyed lots of counting and number activities in particular this week.
We are really looking forward to role play next week and plan to focus on different occupations – it should be fun and engaging for the children! We will also be spending as much time outside as possible playing in and exploring the garden and playground.
Dragonflies
We rearranged the room this week and have been enjoying our new set up! We have a new dedicated role play area along with a range of new toys too! The Dragonflies had a great time exploring new textures this week too and we compared pinecones, shells and a variety of different fabrics. We have also loved playing with different musical instruments and linking them to similar sounds. Another highlight was making bubble wrap paint rollers which made a wonderful effect as well as sound!
Next week the letter is Q and the number is 23. The colour is blue and the shape is a circle. We are looking to get back in the kitchen next week and making yummy cheese straws for our snack. We will also start to collect Autumn leaves, from the garden and also our local park, and use them in a new Autumn display exploring the colour and texture of the leavs. As well as welcoming some new faces from Bumblebees we will be making menus for our new role play area (as asked by the children) so that they can role play making their friends food. We will also be making a new cosy corner sign and engaging in some games that explore occupations and cultures.
