Ladybirds
We have focused a lot of our activities this week around commemorating Remembrance Day. We have enjoyed red sensory play, red leaf painting, poppy and wreath making and all the babies had so much fun!
Next week we will be focusing activities around Children in Need and can’t wait to dress up on Thursday! We will be creating polka dot pictures and using multi coloured materials during messy play.
Butterflies
This week we have been getting very creative and have made our own fruit and veg baskets for a role play area! We also made some lovely hand-print poppies for Remembrance Day and also really enjoyed some fork print painting.
We are looking forward to creating a natural area for the children’s sensory exploration next week! We will also be making pretty winter theme pictures to hang around the room.
Bumblebees
This week we finished making our poppies for Remembrance Day and used our hands to make some fantastic Autumn trees. We really enjoyed making spider webs to decorate our book corner by threading through paper plates and using our hands as spiders, all to coincide with our favourite book at the moment “Aargh spider!”
Next week we will be learning about emotions using puppets and looking in the mirror to see our expressions. We will also be concentrating on developing our fine motor skills by learning to use and experimenting with tweezers.
Dragonflies
We have really enjoyed a lot of sensory play this week including hay, rice crispies, shaving foam, corn flour and pasta. We are also making good progress with practicing our Christmas play for our mummies and daddies! As it was Remembrance Day this Friday we have also been busy making some poppies and talking about the significance of the day. As well as welcoming some new little faces to the room we have also been involved in maths activities on the smart board and exploring torches and stories under the fairy lights in our book corner (as it is now getting dark earlier)
Next week the letters are C/K and the number is 7. The shape of the week is circle and the colour is purple. We are looking forward to cracking on with some more creative activities and adding more to our Vets area by drawing our favourite animals. We will also fill out forms for pretend patients. As it is mid-November we will also start work on our Christmas cards and gifts as well as begin preparations for decorating our classroom and Santa’s grotto (exciting!!)
