Ladybirds
This week in Ladybirds we have been doing lots of water, ice and jelly play to keep us cool in this hot weather! The babies have also enjoyed a lot of singing and actions to go along with the words – it have been very sweet.
Next week we will be continuing our messy play activities to encourage sensorial play and exploration as well as more singing, lots of time in the cool sensory room and as much fun outside as we are able to!
Butterflies
We have had masses of sensory play here in Butterflies this week including ice, jelly and an awful lots of water play (perfect for trying to keep cool!) We have also really enjoyed creating two new displays – our teddies tea party and our 3 little ducks displays! Our new nationalities board has also been updated and we have been talking and showing how everyone is different.
Next week we will focus on role play and have a dress up day! The Butterflies will be able to choose what they would like to be and make a lovely new display from it. We will also be playing a lot with ice and encouraging the children to explore how it feels.
Bumblebees
This week we have been enjoyed lots and lots of water play and plenty of ice play to help us all keep cool in the heat! We also loved making some fire engines for our new display as well as some impressive leaf rubbings. Another highlight of the week has been our caterpillar number matching where the children match numbers to the circles on the caterpillar.
We are really looking forward to creating our own stories next week as well as engaging in plenty of textured play. We will also be looking at the life cycle of a chicken (and egg – which came first?!) and planning on spending as much time as we can playing and exploring outside as we can!
Dragonflies
We have really enjoyed the weather this week and have been engaged in bucket loads of water play bathing babies and cleaning cars to keep up cool! We also playing with coloured water, made rain with the hosepipe and made bubbles to keep the cooling water based activities going! We also enjoyed making music and playing musical games as well as having hula hoop competitions and running races! Back in the classroom we made delicious jam tarts putting our cooking skills to good use! The Dragonflies have also enjoyed stencilling, manipulating playdough and building an island for our dinosaurs! We also looked at emergency vehicles and how they help us. Finally, another big highlight from the week was our graduation ceremony on Wednesday – we are so proud of all of our school leavers and wish them all the very very best on their new school adventures come September – we will miss you!
Next week we will focus on talking about going to the dentist and brushing our teeth. We will also be enjoying lots of physical activity including space hopper races and the lava game!!! We are also looking forward to welcoming some new Bumblebees to the Dragonflies room and making sure we look after them.
