Ladybirds
This week it has been a zoo themed week in Ladybirds. We have been on a walk to feed the ducks as well as played with toy zoo animals in water, painted some lovely zoo animals for our display and have played with zoo animals toys out in the garden. We have also had lots and lots of messy play with favourites including pasta, lentils and flour play.
Next week our themed week will be…cooking! Among many nutritious treats we will be making banana muffins and chocolate brownies! Yummy!
Butterflies
This week we have had lots of water play! Exploring cold and warm water, playing with toy sea animals and plenty of pouring and filling and pouring again! The Butterflies have also really enjoyed some large scale hand and feet painting to encourage and develop their recognition of colours.
Next week we will be getting really creative and will be changing the displays in our room as well as getting stuck in to some fantastic junk modelling.
Bumblebees
This week we have been exploring our new room layout! The Bumblebees have particularly enjoyed the new home corner area as well as the book corner including lots of new stories to discover!
We are hoping to spend much of our time outside exploring our senses next week and will have water and ice play as a sensory feature. We are also planning on getting creative with some modelling and making some wonderful 2-3 year old creations! It should be fun!
Dragonflies
The Dragonflies have really enjoyed exploring different textures this week, in particular natural objects such as shells, wood and pebbles and we have been discussing how they look and feel to touch. We have also had lots of fun experimenting with sinking and floating and the Dragonflies have been making predictions on what various items would do. In small groups the children have really loved making tea (with cold water) and making observations about the changing colour as they make and mix their tea in the tea cup. The Dragonflies (and staff!) have also been learning some songs in French using the interactive smart board! Tres bon!
Next week the letter is j and the number is 9, the colour is red and the shape is a hexagon. We are particularly looking forward to observing our stick insects and seeing how they are developing. We will also be making full use of the garden, role play area and masses of activities outside including games and free play.
