Ladybirds
This week has been our cooking week! Our babies had lots of fun making delicious little chocolate crispie cake treats, creatively decorating chef’s hats and they also had lots and lots of dry food sensory play.
Many of our babies have been, or are going to go, on holiday this summer so we shall have a holiday themed week next week! We will be making sand pictures, a “what do we pack in our suitcase” activity, lots of water play as well as having our own beach themed day! If any of our Ladybird parents have any holiday snaps they’d be happy for us to share with the little ones next week, please do bring them in.
Butterflies
We have really been using, challenging and developing our gross motor skills and have had a very physical week this week. In particular the Butterflies have enjoyed their new slide and soft play equipment! Messy play has also been high up on the agenda this week and we have loved getting stuck into and exploring crazy foam, cereal play and water.
We are excited about next week and our jungle theme! We will be getting creative making jungle animals and creating a wonderful new jungle display.
Bumblebees
We have been focusing on our senses this week and therefore have had a LOT of messy play activity! Particular favourites were mud, sand and playdough! We have also been getting creative and are looking forward to having a new room display very soon, featuring all our lovely crafty work!
A big focus of Bumblebees next week will be looking at numbers and shapes so we will centre a lot of our activities around these.
Dragonflies
Particular highlights this week have been foam painting, washing baby dolls and flour mark making. We have also enjoyed making tea again, using cold water(!) and lots of stirring and mixing! Using the smart board we have especially enjoyed a game of sound lotto as well as learning some new songs. We have also spent quite a bit of time looking at different textures within our own environment this week.
Next week the letter is X, the number is 21, the shape an oval and the colour is yellow. We are looking forward to lots of role play next week as well as getting mucky and stuck in to mucky messy play – always such a sensory hit
