Ladybirds
This week has been our seasons of the year week, with lots of sensory play to represent Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer. Collages meant that we were got very messy and we also went out to get some Autumnal fresh air. Next week is our ‘Around the World’ week and we will be making flags of the different countries, suitcase collages, making our own passports ,but most of all having lots of fun!
Butterflies
This week with our 1 year old Butterflies we have been focussing on our nature theme by looking through animal books and talking about where the different animals live. We have also made different animal pictures about hedgehogs and foxes for our display board. Our 2 year old Butterflies have been looking at volcanoes and we made a volcano tuff tray which we all played with and we even watched it explode! We talked about volcanoes and the sounds that they make too.
We enjoyed it so much that we have decided to do it for another week!
Bumblebees
This week we have been doing lots of Autumn activities, using sticks, leaves and branches that we have collected. We also made windmills to show us how they work and talked about the way they move, how they work and the sounds they might make.
Although it’s a little bit early we have started to prepare ourselves for the Halloween, making lots of pumpkin paintings and colouring in bats.
Dragonflies
This week we carried out a fun experiment by looking at paper cups, string and wet paper towels. The children were fascinated and amused by the quacking noise that it made as they ran the paper up and down the string.
We have also started to make some Halloweeny pictures and objects to decorate our room for our Halloween party.
