Ladybirds
We have had a super week in Butterflies! Highlights have been having splishy splashy fun with water play and sea animals, some wonderful ball painting, our visit from Katie Sparkles and her fun music and of course our story telling party we held for World Book Day yesterday!!
Our Easter preparations start next week and we will also be focussing on some number painting and can’t wait for our Spring Walk! We will also have the usual daily sensory fun and soft play merriment!
Butterflies
This week we really enjoyed focussing on our Mother’s Day activities and all the lovely cards and gifts we made – we hope the mummies love them too! We also had heaps of fun making our new sensory bottles with different materials to shake and discover as well as spending lots of time exploring different textures in our sensory play.
Next week we will be doing plenty of cooking activities with our chef – we can’t wait! We will also be going on a walk to see the ducks and getting plenty of fresh air. Our preparations for Easter also start next week and we will be looking at doing some textured painting too.
Bumblebees
We really loved our St David’s Day colouring in and making daffodils this week. We also had so much fun setting up our car wash as well as making a fantastic dinosaur world with mud and stones which delighted and enthralled our Bumblebees!! Our ingenuity didn’t stop there however, we also made cup telephones which the children absolutely loved!
Jam tarts are on the agenda next week and we look forward to baking them and of course eating the fruits of our labour! We will also be starting to make our Easter decoration and our Spring board displays.
Dragonflies
Our busy little Dragonflies have been experimenting with floating and sinking this week as well as lots of sticking and gluing activities, roller painting, chalk drawing, shapes and train making and playing at the work bench. We have also been spending lots of time with our number matching snakes developing numeracy whilst having fun! The children especially enjoyed their Mother’s Day arts and crafts and we hope the mummies do too! Yesterday was World Book Day and we had lots of discussion around looking at some of our favourite stories.
Next week the letter of the week is Xand the number 21. The shape of the week is oval and the colour will be yellow! We look forward to making ice cream cones and mixing different foods with water to see what happens. We are very excited about making rockets with our junk modelling activity and it would be wonderful if we could still have any empty boxes, yogurt pots, plastic bottles, egg boxes etc you might have at home and could donate to the children’s activity! Jelly play, threading pasta and experimenting with ice and salt are also on the agenda for next week as well as some café role play fun!
In other news…
Don’t forget about our Bell House Book Swap initiative – feel free to choose a book from the bookcase in reception and bring in any that your children have out grown or don’t read anymore for someone else to take home. We hope to get lots of books swapping homes in the next few weeks and bringing further enjoyment to new families!
